The situation

What they were up against.

The largest private probation provider in the US handed its most error-prone manual task, keying court documents into its case system, to an AI pipeline with a human always in the loop.

What we built

What changed.

15 to 20 minutes of keying per document became about a minute of officer review.

How it works

Built for regulated data.

01UploadAn officer uploads the court document. Encrypted, private storage, scoped to the case.
02AI extractionFive parallel passes vote on every field, handwriting included. Per-field confidence flags anything uncertain.
03Officer reviewSource document beside the extracted data. Every correction is recorded, before and after.
04Case systemOne transaction writes the probationer, offenses and invoices into their existing tracker. Duplicate-proof, full rollback on failure.

Consensus, not one guess

Two full extraction passes plus three targeted passes for names, numbers and addresses vote on every field.

Confidence you can see

Every field carries a score. Anything under the threshold is flagged in the review screen so officers know where to look.

Append-only audit tables

Every correction and every write is stored with who, when, before and after. Retained for seven years, never edited.

Owned by the client

Runbooks, postmortems and daily backups in writing. PPS owns the code, data and accounts outright.

“Before Altari, every court document we processed in Georgia was keyed by hand, fifteen to twenty minutes each. Now an officer reviews it and it's in our system in minutes. We've put close to three thousand documents through it since May, and every one of them was checked by a person before it went in.”
